ASBME EVENTS
1. Announcement: Spring Meetings
Wednesdays, Jan 16th - May 1st
7:15pm-8:15pm, TCC 227
ASBME’s spring meetings will take place on Wednesdays from 7:15-8:15pm in the Rosen Theatre (TCC 227). We may alter a few of these meetings, so please check the newsletter for updated times and locations, but we wanted to let you know before the end of the semester!
2. Sophomore Slump/Junior Jitters
Wednesday, November 28th
7:00pm-8:00pm, SGM 124
Going through sophomore slump or having junior jitters? Thinking of switching majors? Find out
what to switch to or if the grass just looked greener on the other side. We’ll have unbiased upperclassmen from every engineering discipline for you to ask questions like:
“How well did you major prepare you to get jobs and internships?”
“Did you ever want to switch majors”
“What is your favorite or least favorite part of your major?”
“Were your senior year classes worth going through your early classes for?”
Dinner will be served to ASBME members, but all are welcome!
3. Explore LA: Korean BBQ
Saturday, December 1st
4:30pm, RTH (Meeting up to drive to San-Ya Restuarant)
Come explore Los Angeles with ASBME! We will be driving to Korea Town for FREE Korean BBQ. Spaces are limited, and priority will be given to drivers, so please RSVP HERE to reserve your seat! Also be sure to stop by DRB 140 this week to sign the waiver for this off-campus event (Due by 4:30 on Friday)
4. ASBME @ LA Food Bank
Saturday, December 8th
8:00am-12:00pm, LA Food Bank
Looking for a great way to get involved in LA and hang out with all your fellow BMEs? Come serve with us at the LA Food Bank! Follow the instructions below to sign up:
a) RSVP with ASBME HERE
b) RSVP with the Food Bank HERE (Scroll down to December 8th and click on the ASBME logo. This will take you to our event. The password is ASBME2012 (case sensitive)).
c) Fill out the LA Food Bank Liability Release Form HERE. Print this and bring it to the event.
d) Since students will be driving, fill out this WAIVER and bring to the front desk of DRB 140 by 4:30pm on December 6th.
5. BMES Conference Summary
For those of you who were unable to attend the BMES National Conference this year but who may be interested in attending in future years, we’ve included a summary of the event to fill you in about the logistics of organizing this trip as well as the types of presentations and seminars that you could expect to see by going yourself. 6. Get Your ASBME T-Shirts!
Paid ASBME members can pick up their shirts at any event for the duration of the semester!
7. ASBME Calendar of Events
Check out our updated calendar of events! Add it to your own google calendar for automatic updates by clicking the "+ Google Calendar" button in the bottom right hand corner!
8. ASBME Test Bank
Use this LINK to submit a request to the ASBME Test Bank. This service is available to paid ASBME members only, so please click HERE to access the online application, or pick up a paper application at our next general meeting. Our $50 annual dues are payable by cash, check (written to “ASBME”), credit card (using Square at meetings) or PayPal (on the ASBME website). If you have questions, please email asbme.testbank@gmail.com.
